Artist's Comments

A recent print I made. I took an old image I did of the queen of hearts that had no background and... added one. I then recolored the image on the computer in high res. That's why there's so many ugly water marks on it, you can only enjoy it fully when you buy the print.

It was original made for a contest on Flash Bunny but to my dismay I found out you can't win twice on the forum... ever. But I loved playing around with the human form on this one while still getting to do all those little details I love. Drawing those flowers made me feel like a real comic inker

Execution-wise, I can only see a few errors. The colors complement each other well, and the piece's abstract nature excuses what would be considered mistakes in realism, though there's a lack of crosshatching to show an interaction between the queen herself and the setting. Looking at the minimized version, the queen pops out, almost as if she was simply pasted into the setting that she's in. Subtle shading around the brim of her skirt can remedy this, unless of course the lack of shading was intentional.

Being at a loss for words to find much wrong with your execution of this piece, I'll say that the overall mood of the piece seems a fair bit darker than the colors that you used here. It seems simply too colorful for stylistic mood to be conveyed completely. The irony present in this piece, that being how this subject is portrayed, is enough, and a less saturated, less colorful color scheme would help to make the viewer appreciate the style itself to its fullest. This is opposed to the viewer being distracted by a color scheme that is simply too bright to match the style.

Overall, I quite like this; the few things that I found I wouldn't consider errors, but rather touch-ups and fine tunings to a decent picture. The style is interesting considering the actual content of the piece. The watermarks are intrusive, but I suppose you couldn't help that.

Oh, and you don't have prints available for this, even though it says so in your description.

Yeah, I had a hard time coloring. Had to keep toning down the colors.
